To become a faculty
member with NeighborWorks® America, you first must be a qualified
expert in your field. Second, with few exceptions, you must be
a practitioner with hands-on, day-to-day experience in your area
of expertise. While theory is important and we occasionally use
the expertise of faculty from universities, the vast majority
of our faculty members are practitioners. Third, you should have
a great deal of field experience. The majority of our faculty
members have more than 15 years of field work. We recommend no
less than 10 years.
If you wish to be included in the pool of consultants
from which we choose faculty members, first you need to complete
a request
for qualifications (RFQ) application. Once you
have done this, we will evaluate your qualifications. If after
review you are selected as a potential faculty member, you will
receive a letter of agreement, which places you in our
pool for a five-year period. If asked to train, your active letter
of agreement will be the basis for our issuing you a task order
for each individual training or other task.
