| Karl Bren is President of GreenVisions Consulting. GreenVisions provides consulting services relating to the application of green building and sustainable design, especially in single and multifamily affordable housing. He is a LEED Accredited Professional with the US Green Building Council and has been involved with green building and sustainable development for over fifteen years. Karl currently serves as the Executive Director of EarthCraft Virginia, a non-profit that administers the EarthCraft residential green builder program in Virginia. He is a founding Board member of the James River Green Building Council and the Better Housing Coalition. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Conservation Network. He was appointed to the Governor’s Energy Policy Advisory Council by Governor Tim Kaine in 2007.
Karl holds a Master of Urban Affairs from Virginia Tech and serves as Adjunct Faculty at the University of Richmond where he teaches courses with a focus on green building and sustainable design. He has received numerous awards including the Ukrop’s 2007 Community Vision Award from Leadership Metro Richmond and Style Magazine’s Green Hero of the Planet award for 2007.
