Instructor Name: Bruce Newman
 
A contractor for several years who restored vintage homes in Central Illinois, Bruce Newman's first involvement with housing assistance programs came about when he applied for a low-interest rehabilitation loan from the City of Champaign to restore a condemned house in a distressed neighborhood. This extensive project led to a job offer from the city to work in their community development department. Newman went on to serve as assistant director for a nonprofit housing organization in Salt Lake City, and then joined Rural Community Assistance Corporation early in 2002. He currently serves as the housing regional manager for Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and Alaska, and brings to bear considerable experience in affordable housing design, financing, and construction.
