Skip Petts is the manager of the Home Ownership Program for Neighborhood Finance Corporation in Des Moines, Iowa. He has extensive personal experience teaching homebuyer education courses, counseling potential homebuyers, and working in the area of foreclosure prevention. As a seasoned counselor and director specializing in community reinvestment, Skip has experience in administration, education, fund raising, and marketing. In his over twenty years in this industry, he has worked as a realtor, mortgage loan originator, loan administrator, manager of a tool lending library, and is presently the Director of Homebuyer Education. Skip’s current responsibilities as Director of Homebuyer Education include: teaching homebuyer education classes, working with individuals needing financial counseling, and working in the area of foreclosure prevention. Skip has served as President of the Iowa Home Ownership Education Project, a statewide collaboration of organizations whose missions are to support homeownership education in Iowa. He has served as a member of the board of directors of Home Connection, a transitional housing organization. Skip has also served on the board of Hansen House, a half way house for recently released prison inmates. He is a popular guest speaker at Iowa State University’s finance classes, local area high schools, and church groups. Skip also has experience as a Fifth Step listener in AA as well as doing interventions for chemically dependent persons. Skip received a BA from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa and a Masters of Theology from the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa. |
