| Sandra Hughes is executive governance consultant for BoardSource, an organization dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening their boards of directors, where she facilitates board retreats, leads programs and conducts training. She also leads complex nonprofit governance change projects in strategic thinking and planning, organizational culture and values, governance reengineering, change, teamwork and effective meetings. Hughes has held senior management positions with nonprofit organizations, foundations and universities, including the United States Rowing Association, American Bar Association, George Williams College, Levi Strauss & Company Foundation, Christian Science Center and the University of Tennessee. She has presented and written articles on governance, the psychology of humor, the philosophy of management and organizational behavior, and the psychology of sports. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Maryland, and a master’s degree in counseling and a doctorate in administration and organizational behavior from Northern Illinois University. |
