Gloria Francesca Mengual is a program director with the Study Circles Resource Center in Pomfret, Connecticut, where she provides advice and training to organizers of community-based study circle programs throughout the country to increase citizen involvement in local issues. Prior to joining the Study Circles Resource Center, Mengual provided marketing, media relations and writing services to healthcare and social services nonprofit organizations. She has 20 years' experience in strategic planning in communications, media and community relations and writing, and has written about the Hispanic community for The Hartford Courant. Mengual has been involved in advocacy for organizations serving Greater Hartford and has made presentations at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work and the University of Hartford about the potential of effective media relations in the advocacy process. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism, magna cum laude, from the University of Bridgeport and has completed graduate work at Wesleyan University.
