Marcia B. Vacacela is president-owner of Marick Consulting Inc, a women and minority business enterprise with expertise in adult education, business administration, program design, curriculum writing, customer service and several financial-related fields including but not limited to credit and financial literacy training for low and moderate populations and minorities nationwide. Vacacela has a comprehensive educational and lending background with over 25 years of experience in the banking industry where she held several executive positions. She attended college in Perú and Switzerland. Vacacela coordinated and developed the New York Homebuyers Education Program (NYHEP) for the Multicultural Markets Division of the largest mortgage lender bank in the nation, developing a NYS-specific homebuyer education program (HBE) delivered throughout the state in partnership with nonprofit organizations. She developed curricula and presentations, and helped select nonprofit organizations to receive funding through the duration of the program, selection, group and one-on-one coaching of instructors to present the seminars. Vacacela tracked the success and impact of the program, which was recognized by the sponsor, partners and regulators as a work of excellence. She’s the former director of Homeownership Services at Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHS), where she managed homeownership services. Vacacela is responsible for program development, mortgage production, pre- and postpurchase homeownership education and counseling, curriculum writing and the structure of pilot programs leading to the purchase and preservation of homeownership in low- to moderate-income and minority households in the New York Metropolitan area. Vacacela served at York College Advisory Committee for the development of mortgage banking curricula leading students to a degree in mortgage banking. She collaborated with NYS Banking Department, HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, NYC Comptroller’s Office, Nueva Esperanza USA and other public and private organizations to advocate the building of wealth through HBE and foreclosure prevention to eradicate the causes of predatory lending. Vacacela participated in the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling Program assessing live foreclosure prevention counseling that culminated in a mass national review of customers’ files leading to process recommendations for the second round of grant approvals. |
