Randal Pinkett, PhD, is the chief executive officer of Building Community Technology Partners, Inc., a community technology services and consulting firm based in Plainfield, NJ. A recent graduate of MIT Media Laboratory, his doctoral dissertation investigated strategies to bridge the “digital divide” by examining the role of community technology for the purpose of community building in a low- to moderate-income community. Pinkett holds a BS in electrical engineering from Rutgers University, an MS in computer science from the University of Oxford, England, a joint MS in electrical engineering/MBA degree from MIT, and a PhD in media arts and sciences from MIT. He has received numerous awards and has been recognized by USA TODAY, Parade magazine, the National Society of Black Engineers and the National Science Foundation for his accomplishments.
