Instructor Name: Phil Myrick
 
Phil Myrick is an urban planner whose expertise encompasses open space planning, downtown revitalization and community organizing. Since 1995, he has been manager of the Project for Public Spaces Parks Program, including the Wallace-Reader’s Digest Urban Parks Institute, a national park improvement initiative administered by Project for Public Spaces focusing on the role parks and open spaces play in community life, engaging low-income communities in planning and implementation, and the elements of good park design. Myrick has led workshops and managed projects around the country on such issues as downtown revitalization, public space improvements and transportation enhancements. In 2001, he taught urban planning on the International Honors Program, a traveling college course on planning issues in developing countries, including Mumbai, India, Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, and Rio de Janeiro and Curitba, Brazil.
