Kevin Prophet, Sr. is Homeownership Business Applications Specialist, NeighborWorks Center for Housing Education and Counseling (NCHEC). Prophet has over 15 years of experience and an extensive background in the mortgage lending, business and financial analysis, and risk management fields. Before joining NeighborWorks America, Prophet was a senior business analyst with Freddie Mac, responsible for credit analysis, data quality, loan performance submission and operational risk assessment of a billion-dollar portfolio. Prior to Freddie Mac, he performed in a multitude of roles, including mortgage loan consultant with several companies, and also was an instructor for first-time homebuyer seminars as well as courses such as Credit Smart. He was a financial analyst for PRC Litton, and served as the risk manager for the 2000 Census while at Lockheed Martin. During his tenure at Lockheed, he was instrumental in getting the project certified as an ISO 9000 organization – a quality management standard conferred on an organization by the International Organization for Standardization. Prophet also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1987 to 1995. In his role with NeighborWorks America, he is responsible for research, development and implementation of strategies and action plans related to homeownership business applications that support the growth and development of the NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC) programs, goals and strategies, which in turn support both the homeownership education and counseling industry and corporate strategic goals. He analyzes business needs and requirements for proposed new business products or processes, including technology tools, web-based applications, and e-learning, as well as applying business and technical subject matter expertise in the field of homeownership education and housing counseling to business applications systems. He is currently the lead instructor for the CounselorMax™ client management system and co-instructor for the BestFIT loss mitigation tool.
