| Larry R. Johnson is a CERTIFIED PROPERTY MANAGER and has worked in the real estate management field for more than three decades. He worked in the private sector before joining the staff of the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency. Presently, Larry is the owner of L J Enterprises, Inc. a property management and educational consultant company. Specializing in the management of assisted, federally subsidies housing and properties.
Mr. Johnson was an Asset Management Officer for the MHFA. In that capacity Mr. Johnson was responsible for training the Management Analyst in the division plus providing guidance and technical assistance to staff. As an Officer Larry evaluated management companies that applied to the Agency for the management of state financed housing developments. Larry asset managed the MHFA “at risk” portfolio; that portfolio consisted of more than fifty developments with mortgage assets greater than 100 million dollars.
Mr. Johnson is a national faculty instructor for the Institute of Real Estate Management he teaches the Institute‘s Fundamental courses and has served on several IREM course development task forces. Most recently, Larry served on IREM new Assisted Housing course development team which is now in the process of being written. On the local level Larry served the Boston Metropolitan Chapter No.4 of IREM in many capacities. He has served as chair of membership, candidate guidance and the public relations committees. Larry co-chaired the education committee, which generated more positive income for the chapter than any other time in the chapters’ history. As an Officer of Boston Chapter #4 Larry has served on the Executive Committee, Secretary elected as Treasurer, Vice President, and was elected as President in, 2001. As President of the Boston Metropolitan Chapter and with Larry leadership, the chapter received the National Silver Award for excellence. This award is given every year for those chapters large and small in recognition of their fine work in meeting or exceeding national goals and objectives. As President, Larry was honored to be selected as the Executive of the Month in September 2001, by the New England Real Estate Journal. For his many years of service to IREM at the local and national levels, he was also honored as the Boston Chapter’s CPM of the Year. Mr. Johnson was the Region One Vice President for the Institute of Real Estate Management for New England 2001-03 and served as a National Executive Councilor for the Institute.
Mr. Johnson continues to serve on various committees and serves as a mentor for new faculty members. As a member of the program committee, was involved with the development of the themes and educational programs for IREM national meetings. Presently, Larry now serves on the Faculty and Graders Management Board, and assisted in the rewrite and development of IREM, HRS402 and the development of the new RES 201 Assisted Housing courses.
