NA153 Leadership Development in Native CommunitiesIn this one-day course, we will look at what it takes to be an effective leader in our Native communities and provide tools, strategies, and ideas to strengthen leadership. We will start by looking at looking at leadership in Native communities from a historical perspective, looking at who leaders were, how they were chosen, and some of their leadership traits. We will then turn to our own leadership skills and styles, identifying our strengths and areas that we can strengthen. We will examine leadership challenges together, and brainstorm ways we can address these challenges, looking at a case study as well as our own experiences.
