HO265 Counseling Clients Seeking Rental Housing

Have you provided homeownership counseling to clients only to discover that renting may be a better option for them? Have you had clients come into your organization seeking housing after they have lost their home to foreclosure? In this course participants learn how to counsel clients on such things as avoiding discrimination and addressing tenant/landlord issues such as deposits, procedures for handling health and safety repairs, tenant remedies and foreclosure-related issues.

Who Should Attend:

• Counselors who have less than six months of housing counseling experience
• Counselors who understand basic counseling procedures but want to learn more about rental housing issues, and
• Counselors working in foreclosure hot spots who assist clients with rental unit foreclosures)
