ED201 Best Practices in Community Economic Development
This intermediate level course integrates theoretical premises and practical techniques of small business development, commercial development, commercial district revitalization, and data-driven analysis. It aims to give you a broad understanding and flexible tools that you can apply to your unique situation to achieve the highest impact with your finite resources. You will first examine methods of strategic analysis and their tactical implications that span differing modes of community economic development. You will then apply these best practices to rural and urban case studies. For each case, you will learn of a challenge that was faced by a community development organization, be given the information then available to its decision makers, and be asked to craft solutions. You will subsequently learn the actual decision makers' choices, and their outcomes.
