ED175 Designing and Implementing Individual Development Account ProgramsIndividual Development Accounts (IDAs) have proven to be a successful savings and asset-building tool for low- to moderate-income families. In this interactive course, community-based, public and private partners will explore effective practices, share lessons learned, develop winning strategies and expand professional networks. Students will begin by getting an overview of asset-building and IDAs. Then they will identify and analyze the key drivers of IDA program design (target markets and outcomes), the nuts and bolts of account structure and potential program services. Participants will examine IDA program models, taking into consideration partners, costs, funding sources and collaboration. The course will also explore marketing strategies for accountholders recruiting, data collection needs, and information management systems.
