ED170 Nurture Innovative Startups in Your Community with Business IncubatorsIn the area of micro and small business development, business incubators can be an effective tool. Incubators encourage and support young businesses by providing them with affordable space, technical and management support and access to potential sources of capital. Through lecture, case studies and hands on learning activities, participants will gain an understanding of what business incubators are, how they work and learn how incubators can strengthen micro and small businesses that invigorate a local economy. Participants will also learn basic techniques for developing and structuring an incubator within a community. Previous commercial real estate and small business-development experience or coursework would be helpful to the participant, but are not necessary.
