ED125 Mixed-Use Development
Mixed-use development can be an effective community revitalization strategy that creates opportunities for job creation and economic growth. This two-day course examines successful mixed use, urban infill developments that feature residential, commercial and community uses. Using interactive case studies, the course explores issues of site selection, market analysis, project feasibility, financing, and marketing. Key principles of smart growth and community-based development are emphasized, and challenges specific to mixed-use development are discussed. Participants will explore the value of considering the community context and ways to build productive partnerships throughout the planning and design process.
