CL178 Creating Intergenerational Partnerships
There is a startling disconnect between “elders” and youth in our community development organizations and initiatives. When knowledge is not exchanged across generations, and community action is taken without regard for the whole system, much social change potential is lost. As community leaders, we must recognize that all people have an innate ability to contribute to community solutions and that by valuing diversity and difference, we find the best solutions. By coming together across boundaries of age, race, gender and class we can better understand ourselves and those around us. This workshop will begin to restore the connections between the generations, creating a space for people of all ages to share their experiences, ask questions and draw on our collective knowledge. The workshop will be highly interactive and will provide practical solutions to complex problems from a whole systems approach to thinking and leading.
