CL135 Strategies for Creating Great NeighborhoodsThis workshop draws on the experience in Milwaukee and will help participants understand the basic dynamics of neighborhood change, decline, and renewal in their own communities. It will provide an interactive environment for participants to explore the assumptions behind approaches to neighborhood revitalization and to learn about some best practices that are emerging in Milwaukee. This workshop will also provide a good framework for residents particpating in the mobile workshops involving the Milwaukee Healthy Initiative sites. NOTE: The Milwaukee Healthy Initiative, a partnership effort supported by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, is a refreshing approach to strengthening older urban neighborhoods. Unlike many traditional approaches that focus on problem-solving, and often reinforce negatives, the Healthy Neighborhoods approach seeks to build around strengths as a way of promoting neighborhoods as good places for people to move to and stay in. The Initiative works to strengthen the image, market, physical conditions, and social connections in middle market neighborhoods.Course length: 1 Days Tuition: $ 0 Course counts toward a professional certificate: No |
