CL133 Stabalizing Our Neighborhoods in Tough Economic Times
What has been described as the most severe recession since the great depression was precipitated and continues to be fueled by homeowners and investors defaulting on their loans leading to foreclosure. Residential foreclosures not only hurt individual families, but also destabilize neighborhoods which may have already been struggling to reinvigorate themselves. This situation is exasperted by high unemployment. In this workshop we will discuss four intervention strategies to counter the impact of foreclosures: organizing, foreclosure prevention, how to deal with realestate owned (REO) by the banks and others; development and marketing.
