CL132 Engaging Our Communities to Deal with ForeclosuresNeighbors can be a powerful force in softening the impact of foreclosures in their neighborhoods. It is unlikely that government will be able to manage all of the problems related to foreclosures on their own; there are too many neighborhoods and too much to deal with at the level of detail that nieghbors are capable of. Neighbors have capacities that no other stakeholder has: they see the physical conditions of property on a daily basis, they may know who is at risk of foreclosure, they often have relationships of trust with neighbors that put them in a unique position to persuade them to seek help, and they are in numbers that make it possible for them to accomplish a great deal if each takes on a small role. In this workshop we will talk about strategies to engage neighbors in managing foreclosure's impact on their neighborhoods.Course length: 1 Days Tuition: $ 0 Course counts toward a professional certificate: No |
