CB340 Civic Engagement : Accountability and Responsibility
If you're active in the community organizing field and have taken other Community Building courses, you will want to take this course and experience a new framework for involving citizens in community activities. This advanced community building course will create a context for effective civic engagement by involving participants in a series of conversations, each are designed to challenge participants to consider their own levels of engagement. The result of this encounter is to demonstrate how an individual participant can, by engagement, build an accountable and sustainable community. This series of conversations has the effect of creating a community of those participating in the workshop, which then serves as a model to demonstrate how a group of neighbors and members of an organization can form a community. Preparation involves reading Peter Block's The Answer to How Is Yes, or his summary article, "Strategy for Civic Engagement," found on his website http://www.designedlearning.com
