CB190 Reaching Your Community and Getting the Media on Your Side
Is the media quick to report problems in your neighborhood but rarely interested in your success stories? Have you developed clear and effective outreach and educational messages to the distinct audiences that make up your community? Have you purchased media production services or advertising and then not been satisfied with the product? In this course you will learn how to develop and maintain the relationships that lead to consistent coverage from print and broadcast media outlets. Through practical exercises you will develop skills to craft relevant messages and develop effective communication tools for your community, and develop the insights to understand when to purchase media to reach your communication objectives. Understanding the resource constraints of nonprofit organizations, the course has a strong emphasis on how to do more with less.
