CB150 Influencing and Affecting Decisions in Your CommunityMany neighborhood residents, community organizers, and professional planners alike are often frustrated in their efforts to build a powerful resident voice in neighborhood planning and community building efforts – if you are one of those people this course is for you. In this course, we will demystify the planning process, explore the different actors involved in it, and discuss how neighborhood residents can play a leading role. We will pay special attention to how residents can use data themselves to advocate for change, and to historical conceptions and current models of the resident role within the planning process. We will explore a case study of a neighborhood that has been engaging in a resident-led planning effort and share our own experiences, applying the lessons learned to specific planning challenges that course participants are facing at home.Course length: 2 Days Tuition: $ 460 Course counts toward a professional certificate: Yes |
