AM254 Resident Services: Youth Programs
This course was jointly developed by NeighborWorks America and Enterprise Community Partners. Resident Services are social services focusing on personal and community asset building that are provided in permanent family rental housing. Serving young people can contribute to the success of an affordable apartment property. In this exciting and interactive course, participants will explore the opportunities for providing services such as child care and after-school and youth programs (through referral and/or on site with staff coordination and delivery). Understand the various approaches to child care, after-school, and youth programs, and determine outcomes and measures of success. Whether you currently have youth services or are in the process of designing a program, learn about types of child care, child care referral sources and ways to encourage youth to stay in school. Understand how to implement and continuously improve youth programs that complement the goals of residents and the mission of your organization. Learn effective administrative structures for after-school programs, how to design programs to engage youth, and how to determine the needs of parents. This interactive course is designed for resident service directors and field practitioners.
