AM121el Fundamentals of Asset Management

AM121el is designed for novice asset managers of affordable housing, as well as owner/sponsor staff carrying out asset management functions, lender and HFA staff, nonprofit and for-profit agency development staff, and Board Members with asset management oversight and analysis responsibilities.

The Fundamentals of Asset Management offered online by NeighborWorks America includes an overview of affordable housing asset management concepts and theories and a review of the responsibilities of key asset management participants. Fundamentals of Asset Management is based on the Double Bottom Line concept, a model familiar to nonprofit owners of affordable housing that integrates the skills needed to manage toward both business and mission-based outcomes. The course also includes an overview of the basic tenets of scattered-site-property asset management, which is important in REO management.

Completion of this online course and successful completion of the exam fulfills the Nuts and Bolts of Asset Management requirement for obtaining the Certified Housing Asset Manager (CHAM) Certification.
