AH253 The Power of Place: Community Land Trusts and Community Change
The Dudley St. Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), known in the community building field for its innovative transformation of a devastated urban community, shares its whole community approach, including tools for community visioning, planning, and organizing. In addition to the benefits of CLT homeownership, Dudley Neighbors, Inc. (DNI) CLT families are part of a larger engaged and empowered community. An organized resident voice and significant collaborations allow the community to address issues such as land use planning, economic opportunity, youth development, and education reform. This class will explore if and how CLTs can play a broader role in their communities. This topic is especially timely in light of federal programs that focus on neighborhoods and that seek synergy (and increased impact) among all the investments in one place.
