- NEW! CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NATIONAL FORECLOSURE MITIGATION COUNSELING PROGRAM GRANT RECIPIENTS! WE ARE PLEASED TO BE WORKING WITH YOU TO MAKE FORECLOSURE COUNSELING MORE READILY AVAILABLE IN COMMUNITIES OF NEED ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
On October 1, 2009, NeighborWorks America, administrator of the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling program, announced grant awards totaling over $48 million to 27 state housing finance agencies (HFAs), 15 HUD-approved housing counseling intermediaries, and 80 community-based NeighborWorks organizations to provide counseling to families and individuals facing the threat of foreclosure. In total, more than 1,350 nonprofit counseling agencies and local NeighborWorks organizations across the country are expected to be engaged in the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) Program as a result of these awards. - Videos, presentations and other resources are available from two workshops NFMC hosted for Grantees and Sub-grantees at the NeighborWorks Training Institute held in Washington, DC in December 2008. One workshop provided an opportunity for participants to hear from lenders on their recent loan modification programs, and the other workshop was a forum to ask NFMC staff any questions regarding the program.
