Emergency Homeowners' Loan Program (EHLP)
The EHLP program offers zero interest, forgivable bridge loans to homeowners who have experienced a drop in income of at least 15% directly resulting from involuntary unemployment or underemployment due to adverse economic conditions and/or a medical emergency. EHLP is only available in the following states/territory: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. If you live in a state not listed here, please see "States that are not participating in EHLP" on this page and click on the state where you live for information about assistance available to you. Housing counseling agencies funded through the Emergency Homeowners’ Loan Program (EHLP), can provide you with the information and assistance you need to apply for the EHLP program. Applications are due July 22, 2011, so contact an agency today!
