Partnering Up to Make Lead Abatement More Affordable

October 15 2003 -- Twin Cities Community Development Corporation (TCCDC), a Fitchburg, Massachusetts NeighborWorks organization, is administering a "Get the Lead Out" program, which helps low- and moderate-income households eliminate the problem of lead paint in their homes. The program was established early in 2001 because of the high number of older homes in the Twin Cities area containing lead-based paint.

Mass Housing and the Leominster Credit Union are the other two organizations involved in the program. Mass Housing is one of two state housing agencies in Massachusetts and is the program’s main funding source. Leominster Credit Union (LCU) is the lending partner that provides the loans for eligible borrowers.
From the summer 2003 NeighborWorks bright ideas, learn the components, results and lessons learned from TCCDC’s lead abatement program.
