Illinois Organization Chartered
as Newest NeighborWorks Member
September
27, 2004 – Mid Central Community Action, Inc. (MCCA),
located in Bloomington, Illinois, became the newest nonprofit
community development organization to join the 230-member NeighborWorks
network at a chartering ceremony held September 22.
This is not only an important event for MCCA, which will gain
additional capacity through its NeighborWorks affiliation, but
also for State Farm Insurance. Headquartered in Bloomington, State
Farm has been a long-time supporter of MCCA, the NeighborWorks
network, and the NeighborWorks Insurance Alliance.
"It has been a long challenge, but your work and tireless
commitment is evidenced in tonight's event," said
Clayton Adams, State Farm vice-president of community development
and the former chairman of the NeighborWorks Insurance Alliance.
Todd Pittman, director of the NeighborWorks Insurance Alliance,
also congratulated MCCA on meeting the network's high achievement
standards.
"It's a testament to your hard work and determination
that you are joining NeighborWorks, a network of excellence,"
said Kenneth D. Wade, chief executive officer of Neighborhood
Reinvestment Corporation, said in a pre-recorded video message
to ceremony attendees. "As you continue this important work,
Neighborhood Reinvestment will be there with you every step of
the way."
John Santner, North Central district director for Neighborhood
Reinvestment, gave a thorough overview of Neighborhood Reinvestment
to further inform attendees about network membership benefits
and requirements.
Under the leadership of Executive Director John Burrill, MCCA
provides affordable housing-related services, such as housing
rehabilitation, energy assistance, transitional housing services,
housing counseling and down-payment assistance, small business
loans, predatory loan mediation, property management and other
supportive services.
