Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services Hires
New Executive Director

September 17, 2003 – There is a new leader in the neighborhood. The board of directors of Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services (PNHS) has announced that Cary Jones has been hired to be the organization’s new executive director. He replaces Richard Stallings, who retired on June 30. Jones was selected from a field of more than 75 candidates nationwide who applied for the position.

Brenda Pollard, president of the PNHS board of directors, said, "The private, nonprofit organization feels very fortunate to fill this important position with someone of Cary’s professional experience, proven nonprofit leadership, and who shares our strong sense of commitment to the mission of Pocatello Neighborhood Housing Services." "We are looking forward to working with him," she added.

Jones previously worked as a special assistant to former Idaho Governor John Evans, served as legislative director for a member of Congress in Washington, D.C., and was executive director of a forest products trade association in Oregon. The 51-year old native of Southeast Idaho was formerly the executive director of Aid For Friends, based in Pocatello. He began his new job on August 1st.

Jones earned his BA degree from the University of Idaho in 1974. He also was selected for a National Fellowship and attended graduate school at the University of Idaho and Washington State University. He lives in Blackfoot and hopes to move to Pocatello in the near future.

Jones said he is excited about becoming part of a respected and effective partnership that has built a strong foundation of public support for affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization in the Pocatello area. "I’m very appreciative that I have this opportunity," Jones said about taking the new job. "It’s a great organization that has made a real difference in the lives of Pocatello citizens and has helped make the community a better place to live and work."
