June 7, 2004 — The Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership (SWMHP) recently became a chartered member of the NeighborWorks network of community development organizations.

"The Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership is extremely pleased to have been accepted as a chartered member of the NeighborWorks network," said the organization's executive director, Rick Goodemann. "We are excited at the prospect of obtaining additional resources for the communities that we serve, as well as the training and additional capacity that the NeighborWorks network can bring to our organization."

NeighborWorks network officials, including North Central District Director John Santner and Rural Initiatives Manager David Dangler, welcomed SWMHP at a chartering ceremony in Marshall, Minn., on May 26.

SWMHP is dedicated to providing quality, affordable housing in 25 counties in the southwest corner of Minnesota. The organization has significant experience with housing development and community development planning. Since its inception in 1992, SWMHP has created, preserved, or financed 4,079 housing units with an investment to the region of more than $150 million from private and public sources.

The NeighborWorks network is comprised of more than 225 community development and affordable housing organizations across the United States. For more information, visit www.nw.org.
