Black Enterprise Features NeighborWorks/
Sears Survey on Minority Homeownership

The April 2004 issue of Black Enterprise features a survey on minority homeownership conducted by Sears, Roebuck & Co., in conjunction with the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation and the NeighborWorks network. View the article [PDF, 151KB].

The nationwide survey revealed that 85 percent of minority homeowners are eager for their children to own their own homes, in contrast with 61 percent of non-minority homeowners. The survey also shows that minority homeowners are more committed to the value of homeownership.

Ken Wade, executive director of Neighborhood Reinvestment, was interviewed for the article. Wade says the survey underscores a major desire in most Americans, regardless of race, to own a home.

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Corp. (www.nw.org) is the founder of NeighborWorks, a network of 225 community-based organizations around the country that help local communities improve their neighborhoods.
