Neighborhood Reinvestment Commends
New Hampshire Credit Unions
March
1, 2004 -- At a recent conference of the Credit Union National
Association (CUNA), Kenneth D. Wade, Neighborhood Reinvestment
Corporation executive director, commended the credit unions of
New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Credit Union League for their
partnership with NeighborWorks organizations. This partnership
has produced a $35 million pledge from the credit unions to establish
a fund to provide affordable housing, counseling and loan programs
in the state. View article.
"I'm confident that if more credit union officials
were aware of the benefits that NeighborWorks organizations could
provide their members and potential members, they would be eager
to explore partnership opportunities," said Deborah Matz,
the NCUA representative on Neighborhood Reinvestment's board
of directors.
Wade and Matz presented the commendation on behalf of Neighborhood
Reinvestment's board of directors to Daniel Egan, president
of the New Hampshire Credit Union League. In brief remarks, Wade
said, "Our success in America's neighborhoods relies
on our ability to innovate and on our ability to create partnerships.
Debbie Matz and Dennis Dollar [NCUA chairman], through their leadership,
have helped us and locally-based NeighborWorks organizations on
both fronts."
The conference was one of the largest in credit union history,
with more than 3,800 attendees. Many credit union representatives
said they planned to contact their NeighborWorks affiliates when
they returned home.
