Beyond Home Ownership: Sustaining Owners' Investments
The Winter
2003/2004 issue of NeighborWorks bright ideas focuses on the role
of community development practitioners, in partnership with the
private sector and local government, in making home ownership
more sustainable. Clearly, providing financial services to underserved
communities and helping Americans build personal assets require
more than just making loans. NeighborWorks organizations have
found that post-purchase services make all the difference in setting
up first-time homeowners for success.
Specific strategies explored in this issue, include home maintenance
training, financial education training, and foreclosure prevention.
