Community Housing Partners Corporation Awarded Best Housing Organization in Virginia

January 14, 2004 — Community Housing Partners Corporation (CHPC), a NeighborWorks® organization based in Richmond, Virginia, was recently honored by the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as the "Best Housing Organization" in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Dr. Ted Koebel, chairman of the CHPC board of directors, accepted the award at the Virginia Housing Awards event, held November 13 in Norfolk, Virginia.

Secretary of Commerce and Trade Michael J. Schewel recognized CHPC with a framed certificate during the Virginia Housing Awards luncheon, which was attended by over 700 conference participants.

CHPC is a regional, not-for-profit housing and community development corporation serving communities in Virginia and Florida. The organization was chosen for the "Best Housing Organization" award based on its extensive range of affordable housing programs and services offered to low-income families and individuals.

To qualify for the Virginia Housing Awards, organizations were required to submit an
application highlighting programs and services, funding strategies, client demographics, goals and outcome measurements.

"I was proud to accept the 'Best Housing Organization' award on behalf of CHPC at this year's Governor's Housing Conference," said Koebel. "This is a tribute to all CHPC employees and the great things that they have accomplished."

The Governor's Housing Conference is Virginia's largest annual affordable housing event. The Conference is organized by state and federal organizations including the Department of Housing and Community Development, Virginia Housing Development Authority, Virginia Housing Study Commission, U.S. Department of Agriculture – Rural Development, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – Richmond Field Office. Conference highlights included keynote speeches from Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine and William Johnson, mayor of Rochester, New York.
