NeighborWorks America NeighborWorks America Ranks 6th Among Builders of Affordable Homes in Latest Builder Magazine List

Holds No. 46 Overall on the Builder 100 List

Washington, DC – Today NeighborWorks America announced that it was named one of the nation’s largest builders of affordable homes, according to the Builder 100 list. NeighborWorks America, representing the NeighborWorks network, was ranked No. 6 among builders specializing in affordable for-sale homes. NeighborWorks organizations build homes in suburban, rural and urban markets. For the third year, NeighborWorks America ranked among the top 100 of all homebuilders, holding the No. 46 place for 2011 with 615 closings. All of the homes built by the NeighborWorks network are classified as affordable. In a tough year for homebuilding, NeighborWorks network members operating throughout the United States were able to deliver on their commitment to producing affordable, attractive and energy efficient homes for buyers with low- and moderate-incomes.

“In a difficult housing market, NeighborWorks homebuilders continued their strong efforts to find homebuilding solutions that work for their communities,” said Eileen Fitzgerald, NeighborWorks America CEO. “Whether building as part of developments of detached homes, townhomes or condominiums, in urban or rural markets, homebuyers can count on NeighborWorks to build quality and affordable homes.”

Tom Deyo, director of real estate programs at NeighborWorks America added that, “Increasingly, NeighborWorks organizations are incorporating low-waste building techniques into their developments, installing energy efficient appliances and water-conserving fixtures, building to standards that create healthy indoor living environments and more, all with the goal of keeping the purchase price and ongoing homeowner energy costs affordable. Moreover, a number of new and rehabilitated homes from NeighborWorks organizations have introduced alternative energy sources for cooling and heating.”

In addition to home construction, NeighborWorks organizations offer services to homebuyers that many builders don’t, including pre-and post-purchase homebuyer education, and diverse lending options – in order to help consumers achieve their dream: long-term, affordable homeownership.
