Deborah Boatright
District Director, Northeast District
Deborah Boatright is a recognized expert in the fields of affordable housing and community development. Her specialty is in developing partnerships and collaborations that bring the public and private sector together to address community needs and improve housing options for low and moderate income families.
Ms. Boatright currently serves as the Northeast District Director for NeighborWorks America, a national not-for-profit agency established by Congress to provide financial support, training and technical assistance in support of community-led revitalization efforts. She is responsible for agency operations throughout New York State, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, including the introduction of national initiatives; the development of strategic alliances in support of community revitalization; and the allocation of resources to the district’s 26 chartered NeighborWorks® organizations.
Prior to joining NeighborWorks America in April 2006, Ms. Boatright served as an Assistant Commissioner, Office of Community Development of the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal. She advised the Deputy Commissioner on emerging housing issues and industry trends, supervised the community and economic development activities of the regional offices; managed the Neighborhood and Rural Preservation Programs and oversaw the Housing Trust Fund and Tax Credit Programs.
Ms. Boatright’s many accomplishments include implementation of NYC’s breakthrough anti-abandonment housing initiative. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Neighborhood Restore HDFC, and the Center for New York City Neighborhoods.
Ms. Boatright earned her Master’s Degree in Policy Analysis and Urban Affairs at The New School; and was a Fannie Mae Fellow at the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Program for Senior Executive in State and Local Government.
