Boise Volunteers Repair Homes for Seniors and Disabled Homeowners

Boise, Idaho — More than 2,000 people armed with brushes, paint, and the need to give, gathered at houses around Boise for the 26th Annual Paint the Town event in Boise. This year's volunteers helped paint and fix up homes for nearly 90 seniors and disabled homeowners.

Joseph McElhinney, an 83-year-old citizen of Boise, says he and his wife don't get around like they used to, so they asked for some help. At their home, volunteers didn't just paint, they also weeded and landscaped, and helped repair a fence in the backyard that McElhinney himself put in 40 years ago. "These are all the things I used to do but I can't do them anymore," said McElhinney of the projects.  For homeowners like McElhinney, the project will leave a lasting impression long after the paint has dried.
