NeighborWorks Financial Capability Program
Webinar Series with CFED
Applying Behavioral Economics for Improved Program Delivery and Greater Impact
Tuesday, April 3, 2012, 1:00 – 2:00 PM EST
Presented by CFED and NeighborWorks America
Over 220 attendees joined us for a discussion of how principles of behavioral economics can be applied to enhance the effectiveness of programs for assisting low-income clients at tax time. Tax time presents a unique opportunity in the calendar year to help low-income clients bring in much-needed cash through tax preparation programs. Mindy Hernandez, a CFED 2010 Innovator-in-Residence, worked with the Campaign for Working Families and Foundation Communities during her innovation year to incorporate behavioral economics interventions into tax preparation and assistance programs for low-income, self-employed clients. Presenters discussed the implementation and results of the projects.
Presenters included:
Mindy Hernandez, Founder and Principal Researcher at One Decision
Linda Paulson, Tax Services Manager, Foundation Communities
This webinar was moderated by Kim Pate, Vice President, External Relations and Director of Entrepreneurship, CFED. Presentations were followed by a Q&A session.

About CFED
CFED expands economic opportunity by helping Americans start and grow businesses, go to college, own a home and save for their children’s and own economic futures. We identify promising ideas, test and refine them in communities to find out what works, craft policies and products to help good ideas reach scale, and develop partnerships to promote lasting change. We bring together community practice, public policy and private markets in new and effective ways to achieve greater economic impact.
Established in 1979 as the Corporation for Enterprise Development, CFED works nationally and internationally through its offices in Washington, DC; Durham, North Carolina; and San Francisco, California.
