Sharon Smith is actively involved in three neighborhood organizations including NHS of the Lehigh Valley Inc., the Old Allentown Preservation Association and the Old Town Neighborhood Crime Watch Group. Through her involvement in these three organizations, NHS has partnered with the Old Allentown Preservation Association by administering a $325,000 Elm Street Demonstration Grant from the Pennsylvania Downtown Center targeted to areas of the historic district to help provide down payment assistance to home buyers and provide funds for major interior and exterior rehabilitation. To date, $296,000 of the $325,000 has been expended to assist nine homeowners.
