Richard Cordray has worked tirelessly to inject a sense of urgency that has produced results in Ohio’s response to the home foreclosure crisis. His personal commitment to the issue has led to the creation of a network of community coalitions, the development of strategies to better educate homeowners, a quantifiable understanding of the unmet need for housing counselors and the development of a first of its kind court-based foreclosure mediation program. He also co-chaired the Community Outreach and Community Education Subcommittee within the Foreclosure Prevention Task Force. Their recommendations led to an additional $2 million investment by the state for housing counseling services. He has developed an entire foreclosure section on his financial website, www.yourmoneynowonline.org, which includes resources by county, tips on how to file an answer, common foreclosure questions, and loss mitigation contacts.
