About the Resident Leadership Awards | Nomination Information
Idaho Purce is a long-time resident of Bonneville neighborhood. In 1972, she was instrumental in securing a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development grant and working with the city of Pocatello to establish the Bonneville Community Center and Bonneville Neighborhood Park. The Bonneville Center and Park was a way to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to help them feel that they were a part of the community and to have a place to call their own. Her volunteerism has always centered on human and civil rights as well as the environment. She has worked with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to identify contaminated sites in Pocatello and Idaho and has been a director and educator for the Center for Disease Control.
