The NeighborWorks Business Awards were launched in 2007 to honor private-sector community volunteers. Honorees demonstrate their dedication to the community through their volunteerism of time and talent. They are recognized for contributions to the goals and success of the local neighborWorks organization and to the network.
2010 Nomination Details
In considering applications for this year’s NeighborWorks Business Award, special consideration will be given to a business person who has made significant contributions to:
- Sustain homeownership in the wake of the current subprime/foreclosure crisis;
- Prevent foreclosure scams and or predatory leading;
- Support “green” initiatives
- Address a community challenge or need in a creative and effective manner
Goals of the NeighborWorks Business Award
- To recognize and honor business people who have made significant contributions toward strengthening communities through their volunteer efforts;
- To inspire similar service by others;
- To spread the word about the value of strengthening communities;
- To demonstrate the effectiveness of private-sector community volunteerism to strengthen communities
Selection Criteria
This award is presented to an individual-- The award winners will have:
- Volunteered their time and talent to a nonprofit community development organization and/or community;
- Delivered personal and professional impact in the local community;
- Demonstrated their dedication to community development through their volunteerism of time and talent;
- Demonstrated civic engagement and social responsibility
Eligibility
Nominations will be open to all businesspeople whose community development efforts are within the NeighborWorks organization service area.
Nominations
NeighborWorks organizations can nominate one candidate. Nominations will only be accepted through GrantWorks from October 20, 2009 to December 31, 2009. The award winners will be announced on March 15th 2010.
