Giving Opportunities
We invite you to become a NeighborWorks America partner and join the many socially responsible corporations and foundations that trust in NeighborWorks America and support our work.
Five key initiatives offer foundations and corporations the opportunity to select an area of focus most aligned with their philanthropic and strategic goals, and achieve results that will enrich our communities and strengthen our nation.
Sustainable Communities Initiative
Keeping low-income neighborhoods strong
NeighborWorks believes that all families deserve to live in healthy, sustainable, environmentally efficient homes. The benefits of “green” housing are particularly important for lower-income families who already pay a larger share of their incomes for shelter and often are forced to make desperate trade-offs between heat, electricity and other basic needs. Through our efforts we deliver green benefits to hundreds of thousands of low- and moderate-income families across the country. Our holistic approach integrates national delivery mechanisms and programs built over three decades of leadership in community development. As such, it positions NeighborWorks for dramatic, measurable impact in its efforts to deliver the benefits of green to low- and moderate- income families on a national scale. Find out more about partnering with us to create and preserve sustainable communities.
Affordable Homeownership Initiative
Creating and preserving homeownership in low-income communities
The impact of the housing crisis is felt across our industry and, more importantly, in homes and communities across America. NeighborWorks America is working hard to help distressed homeowners, stabilize communities and advance housing recovery. At the forefront of the foreclosure crisis, NeighborWorks provides direct outreach to financially struggling homeowners and runs two national public awareness campaigns. We are also looking to the future to ensure we can continue to help lower-income families achieve the dream of homeownership and build lasting wealth. NeighborWorks Affordable Homeownership Initiative supports 100 Homeownership Centers, counseling to help families get ready to buy a home, and workshops and seminars to help them proficiently manage the responsibilities once they become homeowners. Our NeighborWorks member organizations also offer help and funding for weatherization and rehab and advocate for homeowners with their lenders. Learn more about how your support helps NeighborWorks organizations keep the American dream alive for families of modest means.
Education and Training Initiative
Developing strong leaders and organizations
NeighborWorks believes in the power of community development to change lives. Our Education and Training Initiative is the best resource in the country for educating professionals in the field and promoting national standards. Community development professionals play a critical role in addressing some of our nation’s toughest housing and community development challenges. Serving millions of low-income families, they invest in communities; provide foreclosure intervention counseling; promote sustainable homeownership opportunities; revitalize communities with high concentrations of abandoned homes; build and rehab green affordable housing; and so much more. Every year, we train more than 20,000 professionals from over 3,600 organizations and nearly 1,000 community residents to affect positive change locally. These widely attended events gather local industry and community leaders to celebrate the achievements of the NeighborWorks community.
The Annual NeighborWorks Awards reception, in Washington, DC, serves as the unifying event for resident, business and government leaders who have made significant contributions to America’s communities each year.
