- Adhere to a mission that focuses on community revitalization
and the production of affordable housing for people with low
and moderate incomes.
- Create and maintain an organizational structure that reflects
a partnership among resident leaders, the private business community
and public officials, in which residents are in the numeric
majority. For purposes of membership, a resident is defined
as someone who lives in the NeighborWorks service area and who
brings a strong and demonstrated consciousness of the issues
facing the organization’s customers, a clear commitment
to the community, and a consistent dedication to the goals and
progress of the NeighborWorks organization.
- Maintain 501(c)(3) status with the IRS and registered as
a nonprofit corporation in the state where chartered. Subsidiary
corporations are not eligible for membership.
- Maintain high standards of program operations and service
delivery including sound management systems; an adequate level
of financial resources to support the operating and capital/programmatic
work of the organization; and professional staff necessary to
achieve the organization’s objectives.
- Comply with NeighborWorks America's monitoring requirements
by participating in regularly scheduled organizational assessments,
providing an unqualified annual audit, submitting reports on
expendable grants and annual and quarterly reports and, where
appropriate, satisfying the terms of NeighborWorks America’s
Grant Agreement.
- Use the NeighborWorks® registered mark properly.
