John M. Reich was sworn in August 9, 2005, as Director of the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS). In this capacity, Reich also continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Prior to joining OTS, Reich served as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of FDIC.

Before coming to Washington, D.C., Reich spent 23 years in Illinois and Florida as a community banker, which included 10 years as President and CEO of the National Bank of Sarasota, in Sarasota, Florida.

Reich also served 12 years on the staff of U.S. Senator Connie Mack (R-FL) before joining FDIC. From 1998 through 2000, Reich served as chief of staff for Senator Mack, where he managed the Senator's offices and committee activities, including those related to the Senate Banking Committee.

Reich's community service includes serving as chairman of the board of trustees of a public hospital facility in Ft. Myers, Florida. He has also served as chairman of the board of directors of the Sarasota Family YMCA, board member for a several civic organizations, as well as actively supported youth baseball programs for many years.

Reich holds a B.S. degree from Southern Illinois University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Florida. He also graduated from Louisiana State University's School of Banking of the South.
