Sabin Community Development Corporation

Sabin CDC was formed by concerned citizens in 1991 to stabilize and improve the livability of culturally diverse Portland neighborhoods by assuring the availability of long-term affordable housing for its low and moderate income residents, and other economic development initiatives.

A partner of Sabin CDC’s, the Portland Housing Bureau, wanted to help the nonprofit ensure long term sustainability and prepare for an office renovation in a building which provided 11 families with rental homes, so they recommended the executive director contact OAS for an assessment.

Final OAS recommendations included outlining ways to strengthen the resource and financial management infrastructure, and to use a strategic planning process to stimulate broader stakeholder participation. "The work you are doing for us will be our blueprint to a better, solid future," said Fondren.
