Next Step®

Next Step® is an innovative initiative developed by Frontier Housing, the Kentucky‐based affordable housing organization, to put sustainable homeownership within the reach of everyone. They set out to do this while transforming the manufactured housing industry one home at a time. Next Step® has worked closely with Clayton Homes, the nation’s largest supplier of factory built homes, to develop an innovative line of cost-effective, Energy Star homes. To achieve their mission, Next Step® has begun to develop a network of experienced nonprofit organizations to act as distributors of the homes to families across the nation. They engaged NeighborWorks® Organizational Assessment Services to conduct targeted assessments of five nonprofits to help them build a providers’ network and identify any training needs. As a result of its thoughtful selection process, Next Step® is on its way toward assembling a national delivery system for high quality, factory built homes.
